The Joint Economic Aids & Poverty Programme (JEAPP) was initiated in late 2000 following the Durban AIDS Conference after which it became apparent that there was a dearth of information on the economic impact of HIV/AIDS in the context of Southern Africa. JEAPP coordinates research and policy support studies which are funded through several donors.
Our objective is to move from simply describing the impact of the epidemic to quantifying and analysing the impact of HIV/AIDS at the individual, household and community levels as well as its impact on specific sectors within the South African economy. |
